Wedding Dance Stops When An Angry Brother Demands Family Property

  • 3 min read

An Unwelcome Entrance

Ethan rotated slowly across the polished ballroom floor, his right hand resting flat against Olivia’s lace-covered waist.

Guests swayed along the perimeter, clapping in a steady rhythm beneath the crystal chandeliers as the couple shared their first dance.

Double doors slammed open against the gold-leaf molding, throwing a harsh thud across the hall.

A man dressed in a sharp black tuxedo marched down the center aisle, gripping a thick white envelope in his left hand.

The violinists lowered their bows, and the music cut off completely.

Daniel closed the distance in five long strides, planting his dress shoes inches from his brother’s white patent-leather loafers.

Olivia pulled her chin back, her fingers loosening on Ethan’s shoulder as Daniel stared directly into the groom’s face.

“Stop the music,” Daniel said, keeping his eyes locked forward. “We need to talk about the house, Mother.”

A Bitter Inheritance

Ethan lifted both palms toward Daniel’s chest in a calming motion, attempting a small, placating smile.

“Daniel, not today,” Ethan said, shaking his head. “This is my wedding.”

Daniel’s upper lip curled, his nostrils flaring as he thrust the envelope within inches of Ethan’s nose.

“That house is not your gift,” Daniel snapped, his tone dropping into a sharp growl. “It belongs to me.”

From beside the multi-tiered wedding cake, an older woman in an emerald green gown stepped forward, her silver hair pulled tight.

She linked her arms through the elbows of both sons, pulling them gently toward the side of the ballroom.

“Daniel, lower your voice,” she murmured, her gaze scanning the whispering guests. “Everyone is watching.”

“Let them watch,” Daniel replied, turning his back on his mother and pointing a stiff index finger at a side table.

He tossed the white envelope onto the white linen cloth, right beside a tall flute of champagne.

“The papers are right here,” he stated, his jaw grinding.

An Explosive Confrontation

Guests along the back wall raised their mobile phones, the tiny screens glowing in the dim chandeliers.

Ethan looked down at the white parchment, his throat bobbing as he swallowed hard.

Daniel suddenly stepped forward, reaching out with both hands and clamping down onto the silk lapels of Ethan’s cream jacket.

He jerked the groom forward, pulling Ethan up onto the balls of his feet until their faces were inches apart.

Olivia gasped, clutching her bouquet against her ribs while the mother reached out a trembling hand toward Daniel’s arm.

Tears welled along Ethan’s lower eyelids, spilling down his cheeks as his shoulders sank beneath the violent grip.

“You have always taken everything from me,” Ethan whispered, his lower lip quivering.

Daniel pulled the jacket tighter, pulling Ethan closer into his face as his features twisted in fury.

“Because you never deserved any of it,” Daniel shouted, his teeth clenched tight as he held his brother suspended by the collar.
