Manager Orders Unwelcome Guest Out Before A Senior Colleague Intervenes

  • 3 min read

An Unwelcome Visitor

A manager in a dark tailored suit leaned over the white desk, pointing his index finger toward the glass doorway. He kept his arm outstretched, demanding that the man seated in the office chair pack his papers and vacate the premises.

The man at the desk wore a light blue shirt and a patterned tie, his hands resting flat against the clean white desktop. He remained completely seated, looking up without shifting his weight or raising his voice.

Across the open floor, other employees continued tapping on keyboards, glancing sideways through glass partitions as the confrontation escalated. The manager raised both arms wide into the air, puffing out his chest while shaking his head in open disbelief.

Refusing To Back Down

“You should double check before sending me away,” the seated man stated quietly, looking directly into the standing manager’s eyes.

The manager stepped closer, closing the physical gap until his face was inches away, teeth bared as he repeated his final warning. He gestured toward the hallway exit with a sharp flick of his wrist, daring the quiet visitor to contest his authority.

Slowly, the man in the blue shirt placed both palms against the armrests and pushed himself upward. He adjusted his tie and stood at his full height, turning squarely to face his aggressor.

“You are making a mistake,” he spoke, his jaw set firm as he held his ground in the center of the walkway.

The manager scoffed, tilting his head back with a broad smirk before stepping into the man’s personal space once more. He rested a hand on the man’s shoulder, leaning in to whisper an open challenge about what consequences could possibly await him.

The Executive Steps Forward

“You will pay your mistake with your job,” the visitor answered, his posture unwavering as he looked directly back into the manager’s grinning face.

Before the manager could laugh off the warning, footsteps echoed on the linoleum floor behind them. A senior executive with gray hair and a gray suit stepped into the aisle, his eyes fixed on the man in the light blue shirt.

The older executive’s brow furrowed, his hands dropping to his sides as he leaned forward in sudden realization. The words caught in his throat before he managed an address, bowing his head slightly as he acknowledged who was really standing before them.

The smiling manager turned his head toward the elder colleague, the grin on his lips freezing into place. His shoulders dropped several inches as his gaze darted rapidly between the senior executive and the man he had just threatened to throw into the hallway.

The older executive stood with his palms half-open, eyes downcast, speaking quiet words of apology while the younger manager stared blankly at the floor between their shoes.
