He called out to her, asking her not to walk away just yet.

She told him to go find someone else to trick, firmly convinced he was attempting a distraction scam.

She shifted her floral tote bag over her arm and demanded that he stay far away from her.

She stepped directly between the man and the elderly woman, holding up her smartphone.
She asked the older woman if the man was causing trouble or refusing to leave her alone.
The older woman explained that he kept pushing closer and attempting to run a trick on her.
The younger woman turned to face the man, holding her screen up and threatening to dial security immediately.
The man did not walk away or lower his eyes when confronted.
Instead, he pointed his hand toward the kiosk screen and asked them both to look at the machine before calling anyone.
The younger woman kept her phone ready, telling him she was done giving warnings.
He insisted again, asking her to look at the kiosk card slot rather than focusing on him.
Looking Closer At The Machine
The elderly woman hesitated, keeping her hands clasped around her purse strap.
She insisted she would not turn her back on him under any circumstances.
He suggested that the younger woman look at the terminal so nobody had to turn away completely.

She reached out slowly, gripped the plastic edge, and slid her card out of the machine.
She looked from the card in her hand back to the man standing nearby on the brick path.
She realized he had never touched her purse, touched the machine, or asked her for a single penny.
An Apology In The Garden
She admitted aloud that he had only been trying to stop her from leaving her payment card behind.
He explained that he chose not to grab the card himself because he wanted her to retrieve it safely.
Her posture changed as she lowered her head and admitted how harsh her accusations had been.
She apologized directly for labeling him a criminal when he was trying to protect her.
The younger woman lowered her phone, putting her sunglasses back on her head as she stood quietly.
He smiled slightly, telling her he understood why people needed to remain cautious in public spaces.
She thanked him once more for stopping her before she walked away into the park.
As the conversation ended, the man turned on his heel and walked down the brick path toward the greenhouse entrance.
