A Sudden Halt In The Hallway
A black-suited guard stepped directly across the marble floor and extended his arm to block the woman’s path.
She stopped immediately, holding her black leather briefcase at her side while the guard narrowed his eyes at her.
He barked an order, insisting she would not be setting foot inside the boardroom behind him.
She lifted her chin, questioning his command with a calm and even voice.
He leaned forward, pointing a finger toward the floor and stating that the level was reserved strictly for executives.
His hand reached down, brushing against her shoulder strap as he ordered her to leave the hallway.
An Escalating Stand-Off
She did not step backward.
Instead, she reminded him that he was already the security officer on duty.
The guard reached to his chest, unhooking a two-way radio and raising the antenna toward his mouth.
He tightened his grip on the device, preparing to call in backup to remove her from the hallway.
She looked straight into his eyes and advised him to consider his actions carefully.
Before he could press the push-to-talk button, a pair of heavy wooden doors swung open down the corridor.
The Executive Arrives
An older man wearing wire-rimmed glasses and a tailored grey suit stepped out between them, asking what was happening.
The guard lowered his radio, quickly pointing his finger toward the woman and claiming she was attempting to trespass into an exclusive executive session.
The older executive turned his head toward the woman, his eyes widening behind his lenses.
He bowed his head slightly, addressing her as Madam Chairwoman and stating that the entire board was waiting for her arrival.
The security guard’s mouth fell open, his arm dropping slowly to his side.
The Head Of The Table
The older executive gestured toward the open conference room, walking beside her as she moved past the guard.
Inside, an array of seated corporate members in dark suits lined both sides of a long polished conference table.
The executive pulled back the tall black leather chair positioned at the head of the room.
She paused in the doorway, turned back toward the stunned guard, and delivered a quiet instruction to judge the position rather than the person.
She walked forward to the head of the room, and every executive stood upright behind her as she sat down and placed her hands upon the table.
