Caught In The Wire
The young goat shoved its head forward, pressing its neck against the taut metal wire strung across the pasture.
Its small hooves dug into the damp grass, slipping as it tried to force its body through the narrow gap.
A few yards up the rocky slope, the mother goat stood perched on a boulder, calling out as her kid kicked and wriggled.
The wire held fast, catching the small white kid right behind the shoulders and pinning its front legs against the fence line.
A Careful Approach

It turned its body around, bounded past the rescuer’s kneeling legs, and darted straight up the incline.
The mother goat stepped down from her rock ledge to meet the kid halfway up the slope.
The two white goats trotted side by side up the green hillside, disappearing together over the crest of the mountain ridge.
