Suit Demands Waiting Stranger Leave Building Steps Ahead Of His Interview

A Sudden Confrontation On The Concrete Steps

The man in the tailored dark suit lunged forward, thrusting his arm out to block the woman standing near the revolving glass doors.

She stood calmly on the concrete steps, wrapped in a dark cardigan and holding a ceramic mug with both hands. Her gray hair caught the pale morning light as she tilted her head to look at him.

“You can’t come in here,” he shouted, closing the distance between them until his face was inches from hers. “Get out of here.”

“I’m waiting for someone,” she replied softly, keeping both hands firmly wrapped around the warm surface of her cup.

He gestured dismissively toward the street, his jaw clenched tight. “You’re waiting for nobody. Walk away.”

When he reached toward her shoulder, she stepped back an inch and lifted her chin. “Don’t touch me.”

Shattered Ceramic On The Ground

The man grabbed the ceramic mug directly from her grip. She reached out, trying to reclaim it, but he raised the cup high into the air above her reach.

“I told you to leave,” he snapped, looking down at her with narrow eyes.

“Don’t touch my things,” she said firmly. “What are you doing?”

“Teaching you to listen,” he replied. With a swift flick of his wrist, he hurled the mug straight down onto the stone steps between them.

The ceramic exploded into jagged white and brown shards, scattering across the pavement. Liquid splashed over the concrete and stained the hem of his trousers.

He pointed a rigid finger at the debris on the ground. “Now pick it up.”

She looked down at the broken pieces, then slowly raised her gaze back to his face. “You really have no idea who you’re talking to.”

“I don’t care,” he leaned in closer, baring his teeth. “Who do you think you are? I said get out!”

The Revolving Doors Spin Open

Before the applicant could shout another word, the heavy glass doors behind them rotated with a low mechanical hum.

A tall man in a crisp executive suit walked out onto the landing, adjusting his cuffs. He stopped abruptly when he saw the broken pieces on the pavement.

“Miss Carter,” the executive said, nodding respectfully toward the older woman. “What happened here?”

The young applicant spread his hands wide, gesturing frantically toward the woman. “She wasn’t supposed to be here!”

The executive turned his head slowly, locking eyes with the younger man. “You mean the woman who owns this company?”

A sudden stillness caught the applicant’s throat. His mouth fell slightly open, and beads of sweat instantly broke across his forehead and temples.

“I was waiting to see how you treat people,” Miss Carter said quietly, folding her hands together in front of her dark skirt.

Bending Down To The Ground

The executive stepped forward, his shoes clicking sharply against the stone. “You came here for an interview. Yes?”

The applicant could only manage a faint, shallow nod, his complexion turning pale under the city lights.

“She is Evelyn Carter, Chairwoman,” the executive stated, pointing a single finger directly down at the jagged shards between their feet. “You told her to pick it up. Now you will.”

The applicant swallowed hard, his knees bending slowly as he sank toward the cold stone. With trembling fingers, he began gathering the sharp ceramic shards one by one from the pavement.
