An Unexpected Roadblock
The orange cat planted all four white paws firmly on the car’s hood, staring straight through the windshield.
Its amber eyes locked onto the driver, tail twitching slightly against the warm metal.
The car came to a complete stop in the middle of the residential street.
Instead of running off into the yard, the cat hopped down to the asphalt and circled around to the driver’s side door.
It paused by the front wheel, glancing up expectantly at the window.
The driver pushed his door open and stepped out onto the paved street.

The cat trotted ahead onto the grass, turning its head every few paces to ensure the man was keeping up.
With its tail raised straight into the air, the feline led him along the curb toward the edge of a driveway.
It walked directly toward a low concrete drainage culvert partially buried in the lawn.
The cat hopped onto the top of the concrete pipe opening and stared down into the dark tunnel beneath it.
The man slowed his pace, walking across the grass until he stood just inches from the culvert.
He crouched down on both knees, leaning forward to peer into the shadowed interior.
The cat remained perched on the concrete ledge, shifting its weight and pointing its nose straight toward the opening.
A Discovery Inside The Dark
Deep inside the tunnel, a tiny pair of green eyes reflected the daylight.
A miniature orange kitten crept forward over dry leaves, its tiny white paws inching toward the entrance.
The kitten opened its small mouth, letting out faint meows as it emerged into the sunlight.
The man reached into his vehicle and brought out a soft, folded blanket.
He spread the fabric across the lawn right in front of the concrete pipe opening.
Sinking down onto his knees, he extended both hands into the cool hollow of the pipe.
He wrapped his fingers around the kitten’s small body and lifted it out into the open air.
The tiny creature squirmed softly in his grip before he placed it gently onto the center of the blanket.
Reunited In The Grass
The moment the kitten touched the fabric, the older cat leaped down from the concrete ledge.
The adult cat immediately pressed its forehead against the kitten’s cheek, purring and licking its tiny ears.
The kitten stretched its neck upward, rubbing its nose against the older cat’s chin.
The two orange felines leaned against each other on the blanket, their tails curling together on the grass while the man remained kneeling beside them.
