Security Guard Blocks Elevator and Discovers Businessman is the Manager

  • 3 min read

An Unwelcome Confrontation At The Elevator

The man in the tailored brown suit adjusted his tie as he walked across the polished marble lobby toward the glass elevators.

He moved with a steady pace, keeping his eyes forward while other office workers rushed past him in both directions.

A uniform-clad security guard stepped directly into his path, blocking the elevator doors with an outstretched arm.

The guard’s chin tilted upward as he demanded to know where the visitor was going, his voice echoing off the high glass walls of the building entrance.

The older man stopped walking, lowered his hands, and kept his posture relaxed.

He explained in a calm, measured tone that he was simply heading to his office on the upper floors of the complex.

The guard let out a sharp, dismissive laugh and pointed his index finger toward the revolving glass exit doors.

He shook his head, stating that the executive levels were highly restricted and insisting that the visitor did not belong in this establishment.

Several bystanders paused in their tracks, turning their heads to watch the unfolding interaction near the silver elevator bank.

The Call For Reinforcements

The older man did not raise his voice, flinch, or shift his weight from one foot to the other.

He advised the officer to be less certain of his assumptions, but the warning was met with further resistance.

The officer crossed his arms tightly over his chest, reiterating his demand for the man to leave the premises immediately.

He threatened to use physical force to remove the visitor from the lobby if he did not comply with the order.

With a slight, deliberate nod, the older man remarked that the officer would soon regret his stance.

The officer reached down to his belt, unclipped his two-way radio, and pressed the talk button.

He spoke into the microphone, requesting the building manager to come down to the lobby for immediate assistance with an uncooperative individual.

Almost instantly, a loud ringing sound came from the pocket of the man in the brown suit.

He reached inside his jacket, retrieved his smartphone, and held it to his ear while keeping his eyes locked on the officer.

A Sudden Shift In Power

The man spoke clearly into the receiver, confirming to the voice on the other end that he was indeed the manager.

He then lowered the phone, slid it back into his pocket, and informed the officer that he had just contacted his supervisor.

The officer’s arms dropped heavily to his sides, and his shoulders slumped forward.

He took a half-step backward, his eyes widening and his jaw loosening as the realization of his error set in.

He began stammering apologies, reaching out with one hand as if to ask for another opportunity to correct his behavior.

The newly revealed manager did not acknowledge the pleas, instead raising his hand high to signal the rest of the lobby staff.

The surrounding employees, who had been watching from a distance, quickly gathered in a neat semicircle around the two men.

The manager turned his gaze back to the officer, noting that personal assumptions had completely compromised his professional duties.

The manager pointed a single finger at the officer, stating clearly that he was fired, while the surrounding staff looked on in silence.
