Guest Reveals He Is The Hotel Owner To Staff

An Unexpected Encounter at the Lobby

An elderly man in a brown tweed coat pulls his rolling luggage across the polished marble floor of the hotel lobby. He walks toward the VIP elevator entrance, his gaze fixed forward. A security guard standing by the velvet ropes steps out to intercept his path.

The guard crosses his arms over his chest, his posture rigid. The man stops, his hand resting on the handle of his suitcase. He explains that he has booked a suite upstairs. The guard looks the man up and down, taking in his coat and suitcase, and then shakes his head.

The guard gestures toward the public lobby area and tells the man to wait there. The man stands still, his shoulders squared as he listens to the instructions. A hotel employee in a dark uniform joins the guard, peering at the man with narrow eyes. She laughs, questioning if he even belongs in the building. The man remains quiet, watching as they trade glances.

The Mistake in Judgment

The guard shifts his weight, his expression hardening. He remarks that the man must have wandered in from the street. The employee beside him lowers her gaze, her smile fading as the man prepares to speak. The air in the lobby remains still, save for the faint hum of the building’s lights.

The man keeps his hands clasped, his expression neutral. He tells the employees that he plans to file a complaint. The employee laughs again, a sharp sound that echoes slightly against the marble walls. She states that no one in a position of importance pays attention to such complaints.

The man reaches into his coat pocket. He pulls out a black card with the word ‘Master’ printed on it. He holds it up for the two employees to see. The woman stops moving, her eyes widening as she looks at the card in his hand. She takes a half-step back, her jaw dropping open.

The Revelation of Truth

The man looks at them both, his eyes steady. He tells them clearly that this hotel belongs to him. The woman stares at him, her chest rising and falling quickly. The guard’s arms unfold, his hands dropping to his sides as he stares at the floor.

The woman’s hands flutter near her face, her eyes fixed on the man. She stammers, saying she didn’t know. The man looks directly at the guard. He tells the guard that the problem was that he judged before he listened.

The man turns away from the pair, his grip tight on the handle of his luggage. He begins walking again toward the elevator, the wheels of his suitcase clicking against the floor. The guard stays standing by the rope, his head bowed. The woman stands motionless, her hands clasped tightly in front of her. The man keeps walking, his back to the staff as he moves past the velvet ropes toward the silver elevator doors.
